CHINA’S LI BEAT 2008 OLYMPIC BRONZE REITZ OF GERMANY TO WIN RAPID FIRE PISTOL GOLD
The young Chinese champion won his third World Cup Gold in three years with 3 hits of advantage on his closes follower, lifting China up in the medal standings.The People's Republic of China rockets up in the overall medal standings of the 2013 ISSF World Cup in All Events in Granda, Spain.
Today's shooting start is named Li Yuehong, 24-year old, winner of the 25m Rapid Fire Pistol Men event. Li who pocketed the brightest medal with a great score of 34 hits, which left few chances to his opponents. The Chinese shooter, waring a t-shirt saying “China 2012 - Champion”, moved up in the lead after scoring 4, 5 and 4 hits in the fist three final's series. Shooting neck and neck with the 2008 Olympic Bronze medallist Christian Reitz of Germany for first part of the round, Li build up an overall score of 34 hits. A great score, recorded only once before this year, that placed him three hits ahead of Reitz, who closed the match in second place with 31 hits and the Silver medal around his neck. Li had won two world cup stages back to back in 2010, in Sydney and Beijing, and had finished on the podium at this year's ISSF World Cup in Fort Benning, USA (Bronze with 23 hits). USA's Emil Milev, a 1968's shooter born in Sofia (BLG) but now living in Tampa, Florida, secured the Bronze with 26 hits. The 1996 Olympic Silver medallist left Czech Republic's Martin Strnad in fourth place with 20 hits. The second Chinese finalist, Ding Feng, closed the round in fifth with 14 hits, while Milev's teammate Keith Sanderson ranked sixth with 8 hits after an unlucky 0-hit second series.
