Brief Analysis of Performance of Asian Shooters in ISSF World Championships
First ISSF World Championship / Championships in which Olympic Quota Places are awarded is / are biggest Shooting Sport Events in the World as all the top athletes of the world participate in the same to get an Olympic Quota. ISSF World Championship is a much bigger event in terms of competitiveness as compared to the World Olympics because participation in World Olympics is restricted whereas participation in ISSF World Championship is open to everyone.
Winning of Quota Places in the first ISSF World Championships during the Olympic Cycle is most difficult as compared to subsequent Olympic Quota Events because of the elimination of many top athletes who have already got the Quota Places.
Winning of Quota Places in first World Championships also reflects the standard of Shooting in different countries / Continents. Given below is the summary of Quota Places won by different continents in recently held ISSF World Championships in Croatia and Egypt.
Above data clearly strengthens our earlier analysis that Asia now is far ahead of even Europe in Rifle & Pistol Events winning 18 Quota Places out of total 32 Quota Places (57%) as compared to Europe which has won 12 Quota Places out of 32 Quota Places (38%). On the other hand Asia has been able to win only 3 Quota Places out of 16 in Shotgun Events (19%) as compared to Europe winning 8 Quota Places in Shotgun Events out of 16 Quota Places (50%).
China as a country has once again shown its domination by winning 8 Olympic Quota Places which is the highest number of Quota Places won by any country at this first stage.
