In a splendid celebration of sport and culture, the ISSF World Cup Shotgun Almaty was inaugurated on May 21st in Almaty, Kazakhstan. The opening ceremony, graced by dance performances in the national style "Moyil" and other captivating cultural displays, captivated the audience and set the stage for an exhilarating competition.
One of the highlights of the ceremony was the presentation of a prestigious award. Luciano Rossi, the President of the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF), was honored with the special Honour Cross of Sport of the Kazakhstan Republic by Berik Assylov, the Prosecutor General and President of the Kazakhstan Sport Shooting Federation. This recognition underscored Rossi's exceptional contributions to the sport of shooting and further solidified the partnership between the ISSF and Kazakhstan.
Following the memorable opening ceremony, the official events of the ISSF World Cup Shotgun Almaty kicked off on May 22nd, with the competition scheduled to run until May 29th. Over the course of these action-packed days, 230 talented athletes from 42 countries will battle it out in various disciplines, striving to secure their place on the coveted podium.
A total of 304 starts, including qualification stages and five finals, await the participants, making this World Cup a true test of skill, accuracy, and mental fortitude. Alongside the athletes, 81 team officials and technical personnel are also actively involved in ensuring the smooth execution of the event.
