The Kazakhstan Sports Shooting Federation has won an award as the nation’s “best accredited sports federation” at a ceremony in the capital city of Astana.
The award was presented by the Minister of Tourism and Sports, Yermek Marzhikpayev, to the Federation’s Secretary General Oleg Pochivalov.
Kazakhstani shooters won 189 medals in the international arena in 2023, also earning three quota places for the Paris 2024 Games.
The Kazakhstan shooting team finished third in the standings at the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, China after winning three golds, two silvers and five bronzes.
And at the ISSF World Cup Final in Doha that brought the season to a close a historic gold was won in the women’s skeet event by Assem Orynbay.
For the first time in its history the Kazakhstan national team won gold in the Rifle and Pistol World Cup in Jakarta, Indonesia and in the home Shotgun World Cup in Almaty.
The Federation successfully organised the latter event, which was highly successful and attended by 500 athletes from 42 countries.
The Asian Shooting Confederation commends the Kazakhstan Sports Shooting Federation for its remarkable achievements and wishes continued success in promoting and advancing the sport of shooting in the region.
