The deadline for the first tranche of applications to the ISSF Development Fund, established by the ISSF President Luciano Rossi with an initial amount of EUR 2 million, is June 30 this year.
The next deadline for applications will fall on December 31, 2024, and the process will continue in six-month cycles.
The fund will be overseen by a Board of Trustees (BoT) representing all five continents which, in order to ensure speedy delivery, will deal with claims up to €20,000,with larger sums requiring the approval of the ISSF Executive Committee (ExCo)..
Programe Rules for the Development Fund were approved by the ISSF ExCo in its recent meeting at the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI) headquarters in Rome.
The Fund aims to promote shooting sport worldwide through the provision of equipment.
Support can be sought by ISSF Member Federations from nations where the shooting sport – or certain disciplines within it - require development, with provision being available for items such as targets, scoring systems, shooting equipment and ammunition.
Subsidies in form of payments are excluded.
The broad purpose of the Fund, according to the newly agreed Rules is “to better develop the shooting sport in their territory in order to increase the number and performance level of practicing athletes and thereby promote the development of the shooting sport worldwide.”
ISSF Member Federations wishing to benefit from the Development Fund must demonstrate activity within the shooting sport, i.e. by regularly organizing national shooting sport competitions, and must have existing shooting facilities or facilities under construction.
Support for shooting facilities shall in principle be granted only once the facilities to be equipped are completed, although it may be provided given certain provisos.
The applying Member Federation must send a signed Application to the ISSF Secretariat (ISSF headquarters) and provide information about the development of shooting sport in its territory.
Applications need to include a presentation of existing shooting facilities including information on its equipment; information on the number of athletes, coaches and judges engaged in the shooting sport under the supervision of the Member Federation; and information on shooting sport competitions organised by the Member Federation and/or in which its athletes participated in the past five years.
They also need to contain detailed information about the proposed project(s) for which support is requested.
In case the project presumes the construction of the shooting facility/facilities the application should include a project schedule; budget;, location, size and owner of the premises; types of shooting sport to be practiced and a planned completion date.
