The Student Shooting Federation, which is the foundation of the current shooting association, was formed in 1924 when the student shooting competition as a sport was held, and it is 1937 that the official national federation was established and continues to this day.
NRAJ is currently a member of ISSF, ASC, NOC as the governing body for world of domestic rifle and pistol sports shooting. As a representative organization of Japan, NRAJ leads athletes to participate in international competitions and holds domestic competitions and is engaged in enhancement of athletes’ performance. NRAJ has participated in the Olympic Games since the Helsinki Games (1952), and has achieved 1 gold medal, 1 silver medal, and 3 bronze medals.
Currently, in Japan, organizations of high school and college students are actively engaged in sports shooting events, helping the healthy growth of young people.
